SOS-5300 Halogen Digester
Description
SOS-5300 Halogen Digester is an extremely cost-effective way to remediate spills or leaks that contain halogenated solvents, such as methylene chloride, TCE (trichloroethylene), dichloroethane, dibromoethane and PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls). These solvents are found in a variety of applications, such as dry-cleaning solutions and parts washes.
SOS-5300 Halogen Digester uses a special nutrient blend to aid the microbes in recognizing the halogens as a food source. Remediating contaminated sites and oil/water separators is easy, economical and safe, and SOS-5300 Halogen Digester won’t disrupt the surrounding environment the way traditional removal methods do.
Benefits
- Completely biodegradable, non-toxic and non-hazardous
- Designed to digest spills or leaks that contain halogenated solvent contaminants
- Saves time and money by eliminating the need to remove contaminated soils
- Designed to work anaerobically
- Remediates soil and water contamination sites
Technology
SOS-5300 Halogen Digester is a natural botanical blend of enzyme systems coupled with 12 strains of microbes to accelerate the digestion of halogenated solvents such as methylene chloride, TCE, dichloroethane, dibromoethane and PCBs in contaminated soil and water. The living enzyme systems in SOS-5300 Halogen Digester advance the cleavage and cause the hydrocarbons to further digest into sodium chloride or sodium bromide, carbon dioxide, water and salts. The carbon is used as a source for continually producing more enzymes to attack the halogenated solvents in the system.
Our blend of microbes is unique in its ability to adapt to the changing distribution of halogenated byproducts and produce more of the enzymes needed to digest that chemical. The microbes also contain nutrients that can help keep your system’s efficiency as close to 100% as possible. These nutrients help to increase the population of microbes and enzymes through reproduction.
Advantages
- Cost-effective way to eliminate hazardous halogenated solvent contaminations
- Minimal disturbance to surrounding infrastructure, compared with traditional “dig-and-haul” methods
- Minimal labor required
- No need for aeration
- Easy to implement
- In worst-case scenarios, a 70% reduction of contaminants can be accomplished in 70 days
Applications
Contact our staff for customized dosage details. Contaminant evaluation and planned treatment schedules also are available. This material can be used only in anaerobic conditions.
