Green Cleaners
The True Meaning of Greening
We would agree the term green is overused, but in our case green describes products that truly are cleaner, safer, energy saving and generally good for the environment. It’s biotechnology that puts Earth first. Green Downstream® takes Mother Nature’s queue and combines traditional methods with innovative techniques that eliminate grease, dirt, odors and accumulated bio-hazards that build up over time from man-made pollutants.
The Upside of Green Downstream®
Our name is Green Downstream® for a very good reason. It describes our formulations specifically designed to digest accumulated waste and bio-hazards with naturally occurring enzymes. These enzymes actually eat these harmful pollutants. Furthermore, each formula is designed to go after a specific type of compound to break it down into smaller and smaller unit-building blocks.
Clearing the FOG
The most detrimental group of compounds that have an adverse impact on the environment are fats, oils and greases – or as we call it FOG. Traditional cleansers like alkaline degreasers have the same basic structure as FOGs, as they are the sodium salts of the fatty acids. Essentially, heavy alkaline degreasers just move grease and fat around. Ivory Soap is a good example. This simple soap has a low density, so it floats, and is a very hard material to eliminate. In a molten state, it has a tendency to stick to cooler surfaces that makes the surfaces solidify. This is one reason why heavy alkaline degreasers are not effective on fats, oils, and greases.
Making Peace with Grease
FOGs represent a class of compounds called Triglycerides of which most are liquids or have very low melting points. A higher melting point is a characteristic of hydrogenated chains, also known as saturated hydrocarbons. Although the unsaturated triglycerides are liquid, the unsaturation causes the molecules to cross link with oxygen as a catalyst causing the material to form a type of polymer that resembles rubber. This is more commonly known as the grease cap.
Many harmful compounds come out of households, restaurants, commercial and industrial buildings and institutional facilities. And while other green-type cleaners use friendly compounds to wash away some of the problems, the offending material remains intact, builds up and turns into odor-causing and corrosive-creating compounds. The only way to truly help Earth combat these materials is to treat it at the source.
A Whole World of Earth-Healing Products
Green Downstream’s strategy resolves many of the problems associated with the maintenance of drains, pipes, sewer lines and POTWs. Furthermore, if implemented in all communities, our processes represent a significant cost savings. Beginning with the consumer and all the way downstream, Green Downstream® provides a whole world of products for a cleaner, healthier Earth.
Consulting + Development
Green Downstream® is at the forefront of research and has established a technical consulting team to share our findings with customers in order to educate them in better ways to save money and solve problems. We invite our customers to join with us in making Earth a healthier place to live.
